Centers of excellence
ADB partners with Centers of Excellence, which may be a research or training institution, think tank, a university or one of its departments, or a private research institution with a high reputation in scholarly research in development, public policy, science and entrepreneurship.
World Resources Institute (WRI) is a global research organization that spans more than 50 countries, with more than 450 experts and staff working with leaders to turn big ideas into action to sustain natural resources. Their work focuses on six critical issues at the intersection of environment and development: climate, energy, food, forests, water, and cities and transport. WRI is based in the United States, and has field offices in Brazil, the People’s Republic of China, India, and Indonesia.

The Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) is an international partnership initiative, established in 2007, by ADB and the Government of Germany, with additional core funding support from the governments of Austria, Sweden, Switzerland and the Shanghai Municipal Government, People’s Republic of China. The initiative provides assistance to medium-sized Asian cities to bridge the gap between their development plans and the implementation of their infrastructure investments.
