Improving Livelihoods in Tajikistan through Better Roads
ADB provides steadfast assistance in improving key road corridors and livelihoods in southern Tajikistan. The assistance includes training activities for empowering the economic capacity of women living near the project roads using a mobile app. Such a comprehensive approach is expected to demonstrate the synergetic effects and eventually contribute to strengthening the region's economic platform.

What is CAREC?
The Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program is a partnership of 11 countries and development partners working together to promote development through cooperation, leading to accelerated economic growth and poverty reduction. It is guided by the overarching vision of “Good Neighbors, Good Partners, and Good Prospects.”

Results achieved are aggregate amounts of outputs and outcomes from operations reported in project completion reports and extended annual review reports circulated for the year.
Cofinancing operations enable ADB’s financing partners, governments or their agencies, multilateral financing institutions, and commercial organizations to participate in financing ADB projects.
ADB’s COVID-19 response consists of a $20 billion package announced in April 2020 and the $9 billion Asia Pacific Vaccine Access Facility (APVAX) announced in December 2020.

Surrounded by the Caspian Sea and the Caucasus mountains, a reliable and efficient transport system is key to Azerbaijan’s economy. As the largest economy in the South Caucasus, the country has been mostly dependent on oil and natural gas exports that are vulnerable to price shocks.
