ADB in Southeast Asia
ADB works with 8 developing member countries to help build resilience against economic shocks, deliver sustainable services, and promote inclusive and sustainable growth.
The second CRPP Partnership Forum aims to discuss what role can poverty reduction programs play in building climate resilience.
ADB will hold the 2nd Community Resilience Partnership Program (CRPP) Partnership Forum on 27-28 February 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.
ADB has approved a $450 million policy-based loan to help the Philippines strengthen health policy reforms and further improve Filipinos’ access to medicines and health services, sustain universal health care (UHC) coverage, and increase financing for UHC.
ADB will program $10 billion in climate finance for the Philippines between 2024 and 2029. The support, announced by ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa at a high-level dialogue on financing coalitions at COP28 in Dubai, will help the Philippines implement its commitments to climate action under the Paris Agreement.
"We are encouraged to see Southeast Asia’s economic recovery taking hold, yet countries remain confronted with worsening poverty and widening disparities across many spheres. If scars from the [COVID-19] pandemic are left untreated, there is a risk of poverty and inequality intensifying and spilling over generations. On top of these challenges, climate change threats continue to grow more severe, widespread, and costlier.
ADB initiatives on domestic resource mobilization, green recovery, energy transition, climate finance, and tourism revitalization aim to help reposition Southeast Asian economies on a path towards sustainable recovery."
The Southeast Asia Development Solutions—SEADS—is a knowledge and innovation platform under ADB. In tandem with its partner program, the Southeast Asia Development Symposium, SEADS aims to help crystallize thinking on relevant and critical issues in the region, and support countries in becoming prosperous, knowledge-based, and sustainable.
