31 August 2020 ADB holds integrity training for the Philippine Commission on Audit and ADB's Office of Auditor General

ADB on 31 August 2020 held an online integrity training for the Philippine Commission on Audit and ADB's Office of Auditor General, where participants refreshed their knowledge on ADB's Anticorruption Policy, learned measures to safeguard integrity in the COVID-19 response projects, and practiced identifying integrity red flags.

24 August 2020 ADB supports ASEAN-Parties Against Corruption's anticorruption efforts

ADB shared anticorruption measures to prevent and mitigate risks of integrity violations in COVID-19 pandemic projects at the ASEAN-Parties Against Corruption (ASEAN-PAC) steering group meeting. The 24 August 2020 event aims to establish and strengthen collaborative efforts against corruption among the parties. It was attended by more than 50 participants representing anticorruption agencies from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.

This is part of ADB's Office of Anticorruption and Integrity's iACT, iTalk video series featuring thought leaders on fighting corruption and other integrity-related risks.

21 August 2020 ADB helps boost Bhutan's anti-money laundering capacities

The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan launched the Bhutan Financial Intelligence Analysis System (BFIAS) for reporting suspicious transactions online. The BFIAS strengthens Bhutan’s financial integrity and enhances anti-money laundering (AML) capacities by allowing institutions to analyze suspicious transaction reports and cash transaction reports. This initiative is part of Bhutan’s comprehensive Financial Market Development Program and supported by ADB’s technical assistance to improve the implementation of regulatory measures for AML and combating the financing of terrorism.

17 August 2020 Register: Beneficial Ownership e-Learning Course

Officials from Tax Administrations and Ministries of Finance may register for the beneficial ownership e-learning course, which covers a variety of issues related to the tax integrity standard on beneficial ownership. Transparency of beneficial owner information is essential to preventing tax evasion and other financial crimes. The course was jointly created by the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, Global Relations and Development Division of the OECD Centre for Tax Policy and Administration, and ADB.

7 August 2020 Watch: Lessons from the Philippines' COVID-19 response

ADB Philippines Country Director Kelly Bird shares lessons learned from working with Philippine agencies to deliver quick and life-saving interventions as part of emergency response, and manage integrity risks at the same time. This is part of ADB's Office of Anticorruption and Integrity's iACT, iTalk video series featuring thought leaders on fighting corruption and other integrity-related risks.

13 July 2020 ADB supports Indonesia's Directorate General of Taxation in strengthening tax transparency

About 85 tax auditors from Indonesia's Directorate General of Taxation participated in a training on identifying the ultimate beneficial owners and using exchange of information tools to fight tax evasion, improve auditing results, and help ensure tax integrity. Held on 13-15 July 2020, the event was facilitated by OECD, the Global Forum, and ADB. 

1 July 2020 ADB supports Thailand's efforts to implement tax integrity standards

About 30 officials from Thailand's Revenue Department on 1-3 July 2020 attended Office of Anticorruption and Integrity’s (OAI) virtual tax treaty policy training to implement international tax integrity standards. The training is part of the OAI's technical assistance to support Thailand’s efforts to strengthen its capacity to fight tax evasion, reduce opportunities for aggressive tax planning, and mobilize domestic resources.
